Brooklyn Collective
We had the privilege of curating & providing creative strategy for a special project alongside The Blk Originals creative agency. Together we built a truly historical exhibition “Brooklyn: The Collective Memory”.
It’s been over a year in the making to bring this vision to life. Throughout this entire process, we collaborated with an incredible team of creatives, historians, and change agents. We studied and uncovered the stories and history of America’s thriving Black Wall Street neighborhoods. The Brooklyn community of Charlotte, however, holds a special place in our hearts.
The Collective Memory project commemorates and celebrates Charlotte's once vibrant Black Wall Street community known as Brooklyn. Despite being a nucleus in Uptown; and the Brooklyn Collective building remaining much unchanged, many Charlotte residents are unaware of this community's existence. This immersive experience of The Collective Memory invites participants to learn the history of the once flourishing Brooklyn neighborhood. This historical exhibit is a call to continue taking strides towards growth and creative development within our communities and upholding the legacies of those who came before us.
We had 6 signature nights of curated immersive experiences for the community's enjoyment that ran from Thursday, September 29th until Saturday, October 8th.
